Is it Worth the Splurge?

Some products just aren't the same if you have the Maybelline version rather than Chanel but sometimes you wonder, is it really worth it?

Foundation:

High-end foundation tends to have better cover and won't make you break out.
Splurge

Mascara:

You're supposed to change your mascara about every three months so why spend so much money on something you constantly have to buy?

Lipstick:
See a color you like at the Mac counter? Go to Target, look for a similar color... and get it for $10 cheaper.

Blush:

If you have an instagram you probably know about Woman Crush Wednesday... If not, it's just what it sounds like... you post a picture of your "woman crush".
So I decided I would put a little spin on it and take it to my blog explaining what it is about the person that makes them so... attractive, I guess you could say.

Jenna Dewan Tatum
Wait, she's pregnant?

Miley Cyrus

Rihanna
Just keep the hair long, please.

Katy Perry

Okay... it's not just the eyes...

14 Years in a Blog Post: My Life

Draw My Life Videos have been super popular on YouTube right now. I wanted to do one but I couldn't think of that many things to put in it so I decided I would do a blog post explaining my life instead... So here we go!

I was born on October 19th, 1998. My parents names are Heidi and Tom and I was the third child in the family. My brother, Zach, was 4 and a half at the time and my sister, Grace, was 1 and a half.
Grace and I quickly became very close and she loved to play with me and help my mom feed me and change my diaper.

I was always a very fussy baby and at about 9 months, I became very sick. Doctors found out I had meningitis and didn't know if I would make it to my first birthday. After being given lots of medicine and getting a spinal tap, I was starting to do better.

Even since then, I've had neutropenia... which is basically just a lack of white blood cells. My body has a harder time fighting diseases and sickness, resulting in me getting sick about every 21-22 days.

Between the ages of one and two I had something called Sensory Integration Dysfunction (now known as sensory processing disorder). I did not like to be touched of held and often experienced claustrophobia. I went to therapy to help with this and eventually got over it (for the most part).

I was always very quiet in school and got good grades. I kept a steady group of friends in elementary school which changed slightly in intermediate school.

7th grade rolls around with more health problems along with it.
I started experiencing extreme migraines and oftentimes lost my sight. I treated it like a normal headache and continued on with everything.

I wasn't letting the typical middle school drama mess with me. I knew what I wanted and I'd work towards it. I'd finish up with my homework for the night and then draw.... Draw clothes I dreamed of having and hoped one day I would design and sell at my store.

Around the end of 7th grade I ended a friendship with someone really close to me. I learned I couldn't keep pretending to be happy after hearing such hurtful things come out of her mouth.
We're still in the same group of friends but we never really communicate.
People tell me some of the things she says about me behind my back but I've learned to do what makes me happy and try to ignore it. Every now and then I pretty much lose it and end up not sleeping all night because I'm crying to my mom about how hurt I am.
I'm still working on truly being happy but that will come with time.

Summer between 7th and 8th grade I found myself in the hospital. The migraines I was experiencing were taken to a whole nother level and my doctor wanted to make sure I didn't have any sort of tumor. I had a CT scan of my brain and had a allergic reaction to the dye they put in my veins. My throat was closing up and my eye was swollen shut. I was rushed to the emergency room in the hospital and was quickly treated there. I experienced a lot of needles that day but I'm so thankful that I am okay (and don't have a tumor!).
I still have migraines and problems with my vision (pressure on my eyes) but I have medicine to help with everything.

8th grade has been the time of my life. I became so much closer with so many people and I've really stuck with what I love.

My middle school career is coming to an end and it was definitely full of drama (like everyone says) but I learned to totally not care what others think and I've become so much happier this past year.

I am so incredibly blessed to have a healthy, loving family, amazing friends, and extremely supportive subscribers.
YouTube has changed me in so many ways. It has taught me to be thankful for everything I have because someone out there has it so much worse.

I always have so much fun making videos and writitng on my blog and I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting me and making me so extremely happy. The comments I get from you always put a smile on my face!

Thank you so much for supporting me and making my dreams come true. Always remember you are not alone and I am here for you. Life is way too short to be anything but happy.

Love you all to the moon and back
xoxo,
Liv

Quick Tips: Healthy Snacks

Eating healthy is a huge part of getting in shape. Whether it's substituting a few Pringles with a granola bar or having a frozen yogurt instead of a sundae, every little thing counts!

Below are some of my favorite things to snack on that are healthy but still so yummy.

Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries are high in antioxidants which repair your bodies cells. Spinach and broccoli are full of vitamins and nutrients and can easily be mixed or eaten with other things.

I drink smoothies all the time, usually one or two a day because they are packed with nutrients and taste so good. I mix blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and a few strawberries with raspberry yogurt, orange juice, pomegranate juice, spinach, flax seed, and an ice cube.
I typically have this when I get home from school because it's easy to make and fills me up till dinner.

Almonds, walnuts, and pecans are some of the most nutritious snacks you can have. They are loaded with monounsaturated fats which help keep your body disease-free. I love snacking on almonds before bed because they're very filling and have tons of protein.

Having some plain yogurt every now and then is a good habit to get in to. Obviously, it is a great source of calcium but yogurt also boosts your immunity and can lower cholesterol. Try to have more Greek or vanilla yogurt instead the artificially flavored kind.

Fitness & Health: Getting Motivated

The hardest part of getting in shape is finding the energy or motivation to exercise, not the exercising itself. You see photos of 40 year old women in bikinis on the cover of a magazine and wish you were that fit... it's about time we all stop wishing and start doing.

Start by thinking about what you know you can do. Maybe it's 10 sit-ups, maybe it's 30. So go out there and do three more than you thought you could do. Hold a wall sit for 30 seconds instead of 20. Run hills instead of running around the track. What's hard for you on Monday will be easy for you on Friday... if you push yourself everyday, that is. Just keep in mind, if it's not hard for you then it's not doing anything for your body. You should be challenging yourself everyday if you want to see improvement!

As for diet tips, try to not eat after dinner. I know this may seem crazy and nearly impossible but if you make sure you're always full before leaving the table, it'll be easier than you think. If you eat before bed, that food just sits in your stomach and you're not burning off those calories like you are throughout the day.

You'll feel so much better going to bed at night knowing you worked hard and you're getting closer to that goal. It may come more easily to someone else but that's just another reason for you to work a little harder and push yourself a little farther.

So get out there and do it because I know you all can!

How to Style: Combat Boots

As you all probably know, combat boots have becoming very popular this fall. Even though it's getting colder and almost winter, they are so versatile you don't have to worry about not finding something to pair them with.

One of the most common ways is with some black leggings (or black jeans) and a chunky sweater.

A style very similar to that is with a longer coat and still keeping the black jeans or leggings.

Printed leggings are the perfect match for combat boots. To make sure the outfit isn't "too much" I pair it with a big sweater or just a long sleeve, basic top.

I personally love the studded ones because they are a little more edgy but the only down-side is that they can be harder to pair with things.
